ALISHER USMONOV

Alisher Burxanovich Usmanov; September 9, 1953 (Chust, Namangan) is a Russian-Uzbek businessman and investor. He is the 92nd richest man in the world, with $ 21.1 billion as of August 2021, according to Bloomberg magazine.

Alisher Usmanov, born to a prosecutor in Chust, Namangan Province, was sentenced to six years in prison in the 1980s on charges of embezzlement and fraud, according to British media reports. Alisher Usmanov's lawyers say the charges against him were organized during the Soviet era and that Mr Usmanov was completely acquitted under Mikhail Gorbachev.
